Learn English your way:
with a native English teacher in South Tyrol

Learning English is boring!” or “English is too hard, so I just gave up.” If you’ve said that before, you’re not alone. So many people are discouraged by the way English is taught in schools.

But it doesn’t have to be that way! Learning English can be so much fun – especially when you’re learning with an experienced native English teacher in South Tyrol. And just wait until you meet my co-teacher Mia …

What makes English lessons with Lisa Hoggard English right for you?

My English lessons are tailored to your needs, goals and budget. If you’re interested in learning or refreshing the basics in a fun way, you’ll enjoy group lessons. If you have a specific goal in mind, like passing a university exam or teaching yoga in English, private lessons give you more flexibility.

Private lessons: tailored to you

Do you have a specific reason for learning English, like an upcoming business trip or an important university exam? Or perhaps you know that you learn better when lessons focus on your hobbies and interests, like true crime podcasts, yoga or Downton Abbey.

When you book private lessons, we’ll first have a friendly chat (free of charge) so I can find out your level, interests and reasons for learning English. Don’t worry; it’s not a test! It’s so that you can get to know me with no obligation and to help me find inspiration for your lessons, which I’ll design especially for you.

Group lessons: fun and sociable

Learning with each other and from each other: that’s one of the benefits of group lessons. But often, classic group lessons have so many students that your progress feels slow, and you feel frustrated. That’s why I keep my adult groups to a maximum of 6 people – so you get all of the pros and none of the cons.

Want to learn in a group with your friends or colleagues? Perfect! Get in touch to book a slot that works for everyone. The best part? The more people there are in a group, the less it costs each individual!

English Tea Club: a different way to learn

Tea, biscuits and friendly chats: that’s what the English Tea Club is all about. No set programme, just a small group of English lovers who get together for an hour at 5 p.m. (teatime!) on Fridays to use their English in a laid-back, pressure-free setting with support from a native teacher.

This is the most economical lesson option, costing just €10.00 per session. It’s also incredibly flexible: you can come every week, once a month or just whenever you have the time. If you’re lucky, you might even get a private session – for the same price.

Why do you want to learn English?

Here are just a few potential benefits of learning English, inspired by my students’ stories:

  • Feeling more confident speaking English at work
  • Passing university exams
  • Watching Netflix shows in the original language
  • Communicating with family members in the US
  • Understanding American football commentary
  • Teaching yoga to international students
  • Travelling to English-speaking countries like England or Australia

What could English lessons help you achieve? Let me know!

Meet Mia

Before you start lessons with me, it’s important that you know that I teach most classes at home – and I have a cat called Mia. Mia is incredibly friendly and affectionate, and likes nothing more than to jump onto the table during lessons to get some well-deserved chin scratches. If you have an allergy or simply don’t like cats, let me know and we’ll find a solution together.

Why take English lessons with Lisa?

  • Experience teaching native German, Italian and Japanese speakers – I know the unique problems and how to solve them.
  • Lessons tailored to your interests and needs: crime podcasts? English for yoga teaching? Pokémon? I’ll create fun, educational lessons, just for you.
  • Intensive exam training – or just a quick call to get in the zone and boost your confidence the evening before.
  • I love learning languages, too: German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Spanish and French (so far).
  • Experience teaching a range of levels: from A1 (beginners) to C1 (university level).
  • Strong understanding of English grammar – and I know how to make it fun!
  • And last but not least: authentic British pronunciation.

What my students say

“Lisa is amazing! She helped me with various aspects of improving my English throughout my time at university, and she even helped me proofread my bachelor’s and master’s theses. She is very professional, reliable, and puts her heart into her work. Not only did my grades improve, but it was also a lot of fun!”
